With great skill and talent, this pastry chef transforms cakes into true edible works of art.
Ukrainian pastry chef Dinara Kasko‘s cakes and sweets showcase a significant dose of geometry with meticulously crafted designs. Her creations are stunning; some are covered in a mesmerizing spectrum of colorful spheres, while others have a more organic look, like the shimmering petal-shaped ornament that decorates a strawberry tart.

To achieve such perfection, many of her edible artworks are created by pouring mousse into silicone molds and airbrushing them with various colorings.

Kasko left her home and studio in Kharkiv, Ukraine, following the Russian invasion. She worked as a volunteer and fundraiser for several months while traveling across Europe, eventually settling in a small space near Liverpool, England. She shared part of her journey with Colossal, an art-focused website:
“I lost everything in a day,” she says, noting that many of her friends and family members still live in the country she left behind. “I’m not working like I did in Ukraine; it’s hard to find the motivation to build something and work hard because you understand you could lose it all again.”
Even so, Kasko returned to Ukraine and resumed photographing her cakes. She now teaches her art online and is developing a collection aimed at amateur bakers. Some of the molds she uses and sells are still handmade and shipped from Kharkiv, despite interruptions due to bombings, power outages, internet disruptions, or postal delays.
